About this Course
The CIW Database Design Specialist course provides introductory vendor-neutral training for individuals planning to pursue product-focused database specialisation. This course introduces you to DB2, Oracle Database 11g, MS SQL and mySQL. You will also learn about Structured Query Language (SQL) and database optimisation through normalisation.

Upon completion of this qualification, students are awarded an OLC Diploma and students can apply for the CIW Level 3 Database Design Specialist examination.
It is recommended that students have a basic knowledge of the purpose and function of a database. Also, students should be familiar with an operating system such as Microsoft Windows before taking this course. The Database Design Specialist courseware does not provide entry-level computer literacy.
This qualification has been developed by CIW to teach students the skills required for a career in web design and IT. CIW have a strong reputation for providing quality course materials and certification to professionals in many different countries.
The examination for this course must be taken at an approved CIW centre and is marked out of a possible 50. The examination is 90 minutes in length and students must achieve a grade of 75% or more in order to pass. Exam ID: 1D0-541

The CIW Database Design Specialist course prepares candidates to take the CIW Database Design Specialist exam, which if passed earns the individual the Database Design Specialist certification. CIW courses are examined in either a Pearson VUE or Prometric test centre and candidates must apply for their examinations and pay the necessary fee of £90 to sit the test.
